yes... the "you pay more because you are an Aussie" Tax is a pain.

it is like Petrol here, if the price of crude even *looks* like it is going up, then bowsers go up immediately at 100% of markup. if the price of crude goes down (including singapore wholesale prices that we rely on), the bowser prices *slowly* ever so slowly drop to maybe 50% of drop in price.

1 step forward, 2 steps back...

grumble... grumble....

Or the latest rort... where the banks and utilities charge you a fee... for paying your bill across the counter....

Mind you, that's more about forcing all transactions online.... so they can sack any human staff and close physical branch buildings...

Then when they're fully automated... they will be able to sting you for EVERY transaction...

The biggest mistake we ever made IMO... was allowing for our wages to be deposited into an account... although in many cases it's convenient... along with it we lost the right to be paid actual physical currency....

Watch the money system change to a "unit value" system in the next ten years...

I am ready to start my pod again....

been to the only shop in town and got me Banana's, bread and milk to restart the pod.

All the tea disappeared into the garden...and a keen gardening mate hosed and scrubbed the pod clean  so starting right from scratch yet again.

There are a few maggots I dumped into the garden still alive so I might go and put them back into their POD.

Wish me luck for second time lucky

If i was a BSF , I would lay my eggs anywhere near LOW fat milk ,, GEEZE :)

Thats a lot of food for a colony of zero. I really think small hanging containers in tree's in the yard with a very small amount of food is the best way to get the colony started.

"If you build it, they will come."

Be careful not to overfeed initially. The first batch of 'grocery' may need to get a little 'ripe' to get their attention, then 3-5 days for the first batch of eggs to hatch, then a week or two (depending on outside temps...) to really get the 'pod rolling.

Have a homemade unit myself that took about 3 weeks to really start generating BSFLs... now we get hands full every day. The chickens are happy, happy, happy.

Have you flown recently? You get dinged a fuel surcharge of $10! Sure, the price of crude was up, but it is back down again. Did they remove the fee? No way... ajajaj said it right, up like a rocket, down like a feather...

$380 seems like alot to me.
I thought Joel was selling them but I couldn't find them on the website, how much is he selling them for?

BYAP are trialing one KE, faye said they were selling but the $335 was hard to sell and justify, so I am building one as well and started a thread in this section, but we will be told if the BYAP one works and is on market, they are available from 2 places in QLD for around $300 for a small one and $400+ for a biggy, if my so called nockypod works I reckon less than $20 has cost me $0 as had materials lying around, should be finished tomorrow

I've been thinking about this for a while - (still not back home and so I cant play with my system)
I have never bred (that is, intentionally bred) BSF lavae and therefore I cant speak from experience, but would this work? It might be a cheep and easy way to make a "pod"
