Adrian - what was the cost likely to be per kg for small pellets/crumble - myself and probably gnash would be very interested.

I have an ex-factory price and am looking for a trucking company's price to bring the one tonne across.

Hello Everyone,

It has been over 6 months since we had organic silver perch feed available. The only person to show any real interest is Twin Tragics despite all the dialogue that went on. I thought the Townsville group were interested but I haven't heard anything since. I am just re-establishing contact to see if there is any interest out there.

We have had the feed trialled at the Grafton Aquaculture Research Station and preliminary observations indicate a very positive response to the feed. The Research Centre have since ordered additional feed to run a further detailed trial over the winter period. Twin tragics (correct me if I am wrong) also has had a good response too to the feed.

I realise it is winter and fish growth would have slowed considerably and feed consumption would be down. However, I would appreciate any feedback from anyone interested.

kind regards,

Michael

Michael, sorry, but I can't afford to buy the feed and get it up here. Good luck with your venture though.

Hi Michael. I know it is probably elsewhere in this thread, but can you just confirm or restate the sizes of pellets being produced (is it just 1 size) and the quantities that you sell in.

Also, are the pellets sinking or floating?

Thanks.

We have some at the shop Boris. We cannot break down a large bag or it will lose its organic certification.

Is anyone selling this organic SP food in Sydney? Or do I need to contact Michael directly?

I talked to Michael a while back Scottie... here's the state of the nation...

Because the organic feed doesn't contain preservatives like other feeds, it doesn't store as well for any lenghty period of time...

So Michael can/will only produce what he feels he can sell/turnover within the time frame the feed will maintain it's validity...

Aslo it's not economical to produce less than a certain amount each production run...

Reality is that last season a large amount of feed wasn't bought, and has since spoiled in storage...

The lack of "take up" off the feed may have been partially due to the fact that it wasn't available in small orders, indeed Michael basically was selling by the pallet...

He has said that he is looking at producing smaller bag sizes... but will only do so if there's an indication that the product will sell....

Again, the reality is that until such time as one/some of the major Silver Perch growers pick up the product... then it either wont proceed further... or may only do so in small production runs...

If there was sufficient commitment, I'd look at bring a pallet down for this season... but only on a pre-paid basis...

In all honesty, my SP don't like Michaels pellets :(

I bought a 20kg bag and it seems a waste. They loved Ridleys floating pellets and would hit them hard but they are very indifferent to the sinking pellets. I don't know if that accounts for what I consider slow fish growth, 2 years now and no harvest.

btw, this is only my opinion and is in no way a criticism of Michael or his product
