Quick one... I have a 100 gallon tank populated with a bunch of small comets, a half dozen small koi, and 5 angry crawfish patrolling the bottom. Does anyone have a recommendation for a 'sinking' food that the crawfish can snack on?

I've been trying to just overfeed the fish a bit so they let some fall, but lately they have been really hungry despite the cold and I don't want the crawfish to go hungry! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have marron and all I do is boil up some veggie peels ect so they sink and 1-2 times through some meat in fish is best coz red meat tends to stay in the system longer blocking them up

I feed my marron and yabbies with water chestnuts and cracked lupins, respectively. They also occasionally get treated with the head of a drake or rooster.

Sounds good - thank you for the tips! I don't have any drakes going spare but I'll be sure to sink some vegetables and leftover fish down there. The fish seem to leave greens alone so that should work out fine.

Hey ftm,

If your finding that the fish are getting to the food before it hits the bottom, and the yabbies are missing out,

Grab a piece of 20mm (any size really) pipe and hold it just off the bottom of the tank,

Drop in the carrots (my lot eat more carrots then my kids) and they will sink down the pipe to the bottom, the fish don't get to it and the yabbies will get the lot.

Hope it works for you,

Regards

Hey, that pipe idea is brilliant, thanks! I'm going to rig something up.

I've also been feeding some 'bottom feeder pellets' that sink. I'm sure they're not ideal but I want to make sure they're getting at least some food. Plus it's fun to watch the little buggers cramming food into their mouths.
