Koi pellets are significantly lower in protein (%) than trout pellets... and lack other ingredients that trout require...

Feeding your trout the Koi pellets would result in under-nourished trout... and slow growth rates...

How about the composition of the koi pellets?? Kois are generally not meant for human consumption so maybe they use certain chemicals that an aquaculture feed would not normally be allowed to have...???

Plus why would you if the aquaculture feed is actually cheaper than koi pellets?? Does not make sense to feed less protein and fat content to trout and pay more for it...

Thanks for the info. It was just that the Koi place around the corner has a special on and I can get a 1.5kg bag of 3mm for $6.00. So I thought it may do to start them off.

Skretting Spectra FF 5mm slightly under $70 delivered to a depot in Welshpool... I think the 3mm are about $75... although forklift drivers at the depot aren't exactly as friendly as the people you find at the retail shops...
