Due to the extreme heat today and a big spike in water temps, I had to put together and emergency setup under the house (2x 3ft tanks).

Yesterday (before I moved them) I noticed one had his last 3 legs on the left chomped off. I actually netted him out to have a look and they were just raw stumps.

Well... after the move today I noticed what I thought was just some gunk hanging off him. It turned out to be new legs!

I knew they would regrow, but I thought the first sign of them would be after the next moult. So not only were these odd to see, but that they appear to have sprung up on 24 hours seems amazing.

Cool photos!
Due to the constant shedding process, the carapace is always growing. The carapace never stops, but only changes the speed at which it grows. 24 hours is quicker than I would have guessed, but 2-3 days I would have expected them to be visible, inside a week to be complete. But that's the thing, they grow quicker in hot weather, so it stands to reason that visible changes would appear straight away.
