Hello, I've had tanks large tanks going for quite a few years and had to move. I gave away all my fish and started a new system at the newer pad. I picked up some fry from a guy saying they were African tilapia (pink). Prior I had blue and nile (and one other i think). So I did some research and figured he was on point but not on the name. Fast forward a year. The fry grew only to about 6"-8" in length. Light pink and 1/2 have brown markings/splotches on their heads. I've been looking at pictures of tilapia trying to find out what ones these actually are. In my past experience, my tilapia got fairly large in short amount of time so I'm starting to question the validity of these fish. I'm not sure and I'm not an expert on Tilapia but I think these are Rocky Mountain White Tilapia which apparently are a hybrid of a nile tilapia and a blue tilapia (not sure how they selected the original parents for the cross). Maybe one of the tilapia growers will recognize these .
