I had one in my tank for a few days but it died eventually. I'm not sure if they can survive in fresh water or perhaps they can just handle flushes of fresh water for a while... :?

yellowtail grunter ?
also known as yellowtail trumpeter ?
also know as "S%$T not another one of these bloody fish" by every fisherman trying to catch something edible ??

did a little reading and it seems as though they dont like unsalted water at all , and dont live that long either

yes, I would like to try and grow Tilapia just for one summer,

i have rung a few aquarium shops but i have not been able to find any, one place said they had just killed the lat ones they had! because they thought they were GOING to becoum listed as a noxious pest over hear.

just one of those things that sit on your mind untill you have done it just for the experiance, something like that.

i think that if they were going to be a pest over hear they would be by naw, people have had plenty of time to relokate them and i would put mony on the fact that people would have, but it is very dry over hear in the west and the winters get to cold.
