She's a feisty bird, but would she be yummy? Should I breed her?

Very tasty but one of those species like Blackfish and Trout Cod that I would feel guilty eating.

Euastacus spinifer... really hard to keep in tanks... specific cool water temperature range and pristine water...

Takes years to reach sexual maturity....

Put it back where you found it...

So I brought her home (I was camping and didn't get to read replies til I got back). She has eggs under her tail. Judging by her size according to Wikipedia she may be 8 years old. I will stick her in my system an some sort of trout-proof container. If I manage to successfully breed her I promise to stick at least a handful back in the creek I found her in.

She's beautiful! But so very cranky and has large nippers.

I sourced her locally so I hope the climate should be ok here, water quality could be an issue with my big fat trout. Better get on to growing more plants...

Colours if she is berried you have broken the law.

This is an endangered species, I'm with Rupe take her back to where you found her as quick as you can.

You have also admitted breaking the law on a public forum and provided evidence.

Serioulsy take it back.

Yea if she's berried take her back. It's chances of survival in your AP is fairly slim anyways

Very slim... especially as an AP system trends towards acidicy... and that's not good for their shells...

im from houston texas. She's. beautiful. if she has eggs. she is. dred and all you have to do is wait. but if you have trout. I would. move her to an area. where. the is no chance. of the young moving in to harms way.
the youngster. will only be 1/64 inch@ best on hatching. and most netting. will not work.!
I have some where. around 30 female crawfish. hatching. now and this is what I do. good luck. afterward. let her go alongside. some of her. youngsters.
