wow i am officially over the rain...

we have had over 700mm in the last 2 months.... prior to that we were having the driest summer on record... but that was saved as the rain started the last few days of summer...

during this time.... most of my green leafy things rotted..so there is sweet sod all left in my gb's... and plenty of fresh water....

now during all of this.... SOMEHOW.. the redies have stopped listening to rage against the machine and started listening to barry white...

some of the reddies are now a bright blue and the others are in berry... now the guy who told me the redies were vegans....(just before one ate the kids goldfish...) also said they wouldnt beed in tanks without heating the water....

has anyone else bred redclaws in thier ap system??? and should the ones in berry be removed from the others in the tank?????

i have herd of them breeding in tanks as long as there is plenty of places for them to hide.

I would leave em be and put lots of stuff on the bottom of the tank for the babies to hide amoncst.

good luck.

I am interested in keeping RedClaw in the Sump of my AP setup once it is going.
Yes they are predominently Vegetarians, but will take meat. They will also be Cannabalistic if not fed properly.
As Grunta said, provide hiding places for the offspring to hide in and let nature take it's course.

As for why they are in Spawning mode is very much to do with the Wet Season - here in Darwin anyway. RedClaw are alot more prolific in just after the Wet when water levels are recieding.
Im off Culvert fishing on Thursday and am going to see if I can net a few RedClaw to start my system up. :headbang:
