Yes I use a chiller, which is how I've managed to keep the ~20 trout over summer.

I run my big chest freezer temp almost as cold as it will run, and the fish are still good at 18 months, we can't really notice any taste difference to freshly caught, so perhaps 2+ years.

That's great to know, I that's the case then my main reservation about trout isn't really a worry.

I am keeping trout this summer and they are doing quite well now. I did some once before like this. They are under a white shelter on the south side of the green house. these shelters are quite cool and are mostly used for play grounds and pigs . It is essential to keep pigs cool in summer.I run the water into the green house with pipes I also have a shade cloth screen over the tank so if the temperature is getting too high I spray water on it to cool .

What does your water temperature get up to Don? I've found that with a lot of fish in the tank, 20C is too hot and they start to die, but with only a few dozen in, a bit over 21C is ok, although they aren't particularly hungry then.
My fingerling supplier says over 18C can kill them, but he does run extremely high densities at the fish farm.

The water in that tank got to 21 when we had a run of days around forty. I ran the pump on the shade cloth for two days to stop it getting any higher but that is all .I don't think I will need to run the pump again this year as the nights are getting cooler now. It is good to have the spray as a back up if you get a run of hot weather, if it is getting too hot you only have to switch it on.

I guess it stops the water getting too hot, but wont cool it below about 20C. You do need a large supply of water to make up the evaporative losses, something we don't have here. I lose many hundreds of litres per week in hot weather just through normal transpiration and evaporation, without using additional water for cooling.

I've managed to get the glass panels home.
It'll take me some time to get the glasshouse build finished (should that be started?) but the ball is rolling.
I'll start a thread once I've measured up the panels and know what sizes I'm dealing with, so that I can start planning properly.

It was an epic score, should be able to build a glasshouse longer and wider than a shipping container.

Also still feeling it today too, man they are heavy...
The larger panels have to be over 100kg.
I won't celebrate too much until they're installed without breaking any.
