Sounds like a golden rainbow trout.

Harvested 6 brooks from my system last week, thought I'd add a few more observations.

They really do have a delicate flesh. Once gutted they belly flesh flaps are very loose and they feel very delicate right through the body.

Smoked with hickory they have a creamy taste. I think this is due to slightly higher fat content through the flesh. They also seem to have a bit more fat between the skin and flesh. Not a bad thing however. I think this is what creates the delicate fleshy feel.

Still they are not freaked out by the net and are actually very easy to be selective when harvesting. I just hold the net in and they get used to it swimming around infront of it. Then when you see the one you want for dinner swimming in front of the net just scoop him up.

Experimented the net in with the rainbows as well but they are so skittish and smash them selves around the tank trying to hide. Completely different to the brooks.

All round i'm very impressed with the Brooks.

I think you have sold me on them for next year.

Yeah definitely a better fish to eat than either Browns or Rainbows.

I guess we are a bit spoilt for the variety of fish we can have here. I have 6 different varieties in the tanks now

So do they have the same temp tolerances and growth of rainbows?

How similar to rainbows are they? and with this new fish relocation thing, would we possibly see them in WA any time soon?

They are better in both regards apparently.

Grow faster, and have less oxygen requirements, hence handle the higher temps better....at least that what I read in the other threads.
