The governmentin their infinate wisdom only allows them to be sold with a 5 litre capacity/////right next to the 5 litre containers I found 25 litre containers that just happened to fit ROFLMAO

isnt it around the 68C mark KP? CBB looking it up right now ;)

agree methanol is nasy, but as long as you dont drink the first two shots in excitement then i cant see a problem at all. The methanol has to come from somewhere, so its in the "wash" alc. in the same ratio as you distilled "batch".

While methanol toxicity is very real i think the legends are exaggerated to help control the masses ;)

Steve,
regarding temp, NFI, never done it before.
regarding methanol... it makes you blind, such as 'blind drunk' extended use makes blindness permanent and very extended use makes it permanent...
anything that effects something as precious as my eyesight is definitely scary enough in my book. but hey, the methanol tastes like crap too :-)

I am not so sure methanol is distinctive in taste especially if mixed in with other flavors.

From Wikipedia
"liquid with a distinctive odor that is somewhat milder and sweeter than ethanol (ethyl alcohol)."

And regarding methylated spirits:
"Despite its poisonous nature, denatured alcohol is sometimes consumed by the desperate or ignorant, which can result in blindness or death. To help prevent this, denatonium is often added to give the substance an extremely bitter flavor. Substances such as pyridine help to give the mixture an unpleasant odor, and emetic (vomiting) agents such as syrup of ipecac may also be included."

If you don't know its there you might drink it.

NORMAL distillation technicque,,,20 litres "body" assume 10% alcohol.
Of the 2lires alcohol expected, methanol POISON alcohol,,maybe 200ml.
Methy lboils at a lower temp,,,so throw first 100ml ,return next 400ml,,,
wait ,throw next 100mil,.....,smell next 100 ml...if it smells like Methylated sprits,,,either throw or place back in distilller,.....,so on ,so forth,,,,eventually getting near pure Ethynol.

Methynol,,is poison,,,it will ultimately cause blindness and other Major health issues.

Ethyl alcohol is what you buy in normal beer/scotch/Vodka etc.

Once you do it , it's very easy.

percentages of alchol can be increased with better yeasts/sugars and good management,,toward 15-17%.
So you should get near 2.3 litres of ETHYL alcohol.(from a 20 litre BATCH)
This ETHYL alcohol, should be filtered through a carbon filter.
This is near 100% pure,,,,DO NOT drink it at this strength.Add distilled water , 2 parts water to 1 part distillate .....,you now have near 7 litres of normal strength VODKA,,

700 ml is standard bottle size in Aus,,,usually priced around $25,.....,so you get $250 of Vodka for about $40 in ingredients and maybe 2 hours work......( and maybe $1 electricity).

Please note,,, Selling of alcohol is illegal without a license,,consumption of alcohol by minors is not recommended,,all legalities should be checked
with local authorities.

Thank you every one. chappo I think that’s the trick.

May i say this is for automobile use only. I don’t have any intentions in drinking it. That just scary.

i have done a little more research: i can obtain a permit from the US gov to make ethyl for fuel use only. it seems to be a easy thang to get :)

oo ya back on topic im not trying to focus on betta's any more, my money and time need to go tords tilapia :)

ps chappo GIR was the best on Invader Zim.
