Post subject:  Feed conversion rates
I am interested in running some stats to see what feed conversion rate AP systems get on pellets. Given that Aquaculture is (i think) 5kg feed: 1Kg fish i would like to see if AP can improve on this. i would estimate that i can get about 1:1 - 1.5:1 ratio. i would like to look at this winters trout crop, given i have starting weights for most of you already from the trout comp (big brother is watching :evil1: )

What i would like from you:

the more number i get the merrier, and the more i have to work with. at a minimum i would like
- average starting weight of fish - if youve entered the trout comp i have this already
- number of fish
- average weigh of end fish when you first start harvesting
- number of remaining fish when you first start harvesting
- amount of feed given to trout

i understand this is probably more of a hastle than anything else for you, so any help / numbers is appreciated :)

Nope... FCR's in aquaculture range from about 1.1:1 - 2:1.... depending on species.... anything beyond that is deemed "unprofitable....

I'd reckon most AP'ers would be lucky to get better than 1.5:1... and more likely 2:1....

Nup, aquaculture does a lot better than that and does reach the 1:1 - 1.5:1, depending, primarily, on the species.

In fact you can get better than 1:1 with some fish if grown-out in a pond (as they eat natural biota in the pond which adds to their growth).
