I have a bunch of tilapia, but winter has set in and now they are not feeding. We have mild winters in Cape Town, so they will survive, but they are not adding any nutrients to the system anymore. I was thinking of adding trout for the winter, right into the same tanks. Has anyone done this before? Will trout and tilapia co-habit without issues? The plan is to eat all the trout before summer is back. They will not survive our summer temps.. When summer is back, the tilapia will switch on again.. thoughts anyone? regards Carel |

how mild and how long are the winters....if very short, I would not worry about it. The plants will be fine. |

Hey! I was wondering if you where thinking about the problem of the trout and tilapia together.... I am also worried about your tilapia overwintering. A friend of mine had some tilapia in a pond and they died last winter. Not to say it was temps that killed them but still. Turn pumps off at night! |
