I will be putting Perch and Barrmundi in my system.
Has anyone had anything to do with Jade Perch? From what I've read they can put on weight a lot faster (some say twice as fast) as the other types of perch.

Hi Corn, I have killed 30 or so just recently....... 
I have read all I can find, since by big fingerling kill, (started with 50 Jade and 50 Silver) and spoken to several hatchery guys and it would appear that Jade Perch do grow out about 25 to 30% faster than Silver although not as hardy as Silver Perch. I am keen to grow Jade Perch and intend to do so, in a few weeks I will get another 50 and see how I go with that lot. 
The 10 or so that have survived (can't count how many exactly,they move too fast) are doing well now that I have them in a F/g tank (200 ltrs) , temp just right at 23 deg and the Ph nicely in the middle. Aerator working well and the little Jade are shooting about all over the place in the tank playing hide and seek behind the house bricks I have in there. Murray |
