hi gang! Im very new to aquaponics, in fact I hadn't heard or seen anything about it until the weekend, when I visited a mate and saw his system....it blew my mind! Anyway i want to get started with a small system and am looking at getting one of these balcony systems. We are interested in growing vegies moreso than the fish so we want to fill it with goldfish instead. But my question is this: Can we expect the same amount of vegetable growth with just goldfish rather than barramundi? How many will we need? how big will they need to be when we put them in and do we still feed them the goldfish flakes? thanks hank. |

Hi hankmarvin it is quite surprising just how much you can grow in those small systems with small fish. If you visit the display centre you can see how productive they can be with only a few fish. I would just get small goldfish and give them a variety of foods. The will also nibble at algae from the side of the tank Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk |

You will need a better food than goldfish flakes they are designed to keep fish alive and not give off waste you need the waste to feed the plants |
