I've always been an advocate of "breaking a fish's neck" to dispatch it, I think it's easier than trying to find it's brain with a spike, or whacking it with a club.

Only thing is that I've not been able to find anything on youtube that shows people how to do it, so here's a quick video I've made showing how I do it.

The little bigger got me though, damn barra have some spiky bits, I did bleep out my profanities though..

A good and quick method though.

You’re a brave man putting your finger in the gills of a barra!!

I used to live on The Daly River in the N.T where my parents had a tourist park. Rule one to tourists never carry a barra by it's gills always by the lower lip and rule 2 never try to scale a barra just skin it.

Mind you back then the minimum legal size was 55cm.

Never the less bloody funny! :laughing3:

:flower:

P.S Rule 3. ALWAYS bury the carcass and skin, NEVER throw back into the river. It has a nasty habit of attracting rather large leathery hand bags, if you know what I mean! :D

Every ones a critic........

The problem with iki jimi is that every fish species is different and they all have brains in different spots and unless you really know what you are doing, you can be stabbing away at the head of the fish without killing it instantly.. I learnt that early when I was young, you catch lots of different fish and it just wasn't worth trying to find the brain...

The only thing you need to complete the video is to replace the music with The Benny Hill theme tune :D
