Hopefully it's the light making the tail look like that. Otherwise it could be a fungal infection that needs to be delt with. |

vlt, I'm with you, most likely saprolegnia sp. What are your water temps, seems to strike at cool temps. If you can, give that fish a salt bath treatment. |

I dont have anything to measure with but at the moment its about 17-18 degrees. How much salt should i put in i only have a few gumpies in probably 20L of water with duck weed. Apart from that fish others look normal, other than the crazy one doing back flips in the water

1-5 gm/liter constant , although not sure what plants can handle. I think 2 gm/lt is what I read here. Or dip that fish alone in 15gm/liter seperate container for ten minutes or until stressing. But this may cause damage by handling fish. Soft net should be ok. |

I think Murray Halam's DVd shows putting them in salt bath for about an hour at 6ppm. Then put them back in the tank seem that fungus and bacteria cant survive the sudden transfer. |

I was referin to the fish that was doing "backflips" as that would indicate flashing. |

No plants other than duckweed. Went to have a look this morning couldnt find that fish....not at the bottom. I found on that was really back thought he was dead but apparently not his fins were still moving but wondered what happen to it? |

No sorry i chucked the little fella away. I actually think that was the one from the pic as the tail there was some stuff there. All the other gummpies dont show any sign of health problems at the moment they are still swimming nicely around the tub. |

The tail has rotted off, it is a fungal infection. Sorry, with that much damage I would just euthanize the poor little guy. I’ve been keeping fish for more than 30 years and owned a chain of pet stores… Again, sorry it is a fungal infection. |
