Hi yall,
I got bored and thought I would put 3 of my guppies from my inside tank into the AP system with the 35 silver perch 6 koi and 8 goldfish and , well they didnt last long. The biggest most colourful went first in about 5 min then about half a day later the next one was gone. The female I put in lasted about 5 days and havent seen her for a couple of days.
I was under the impression that the SP were not carniverous same for the koi and goldies.
I probably should have fed main fish first before putting in the guppies.
Anyway as a consolation to the tragic end to my 3 guppies the female has left about 6 offspring in the inside tank (not AP). :thumbright:
Laters.
PS anyone know where to get or have any old rainwater tanks (galv ok) that need a new home, prefer size about 1300mm ish in diameter. I want to make more GB and all the gear to convert them for AP use.

Carnivorous means they exclusively eat meat. Not carnivorous does not immediately mean they are herbivorous.

SPs are omnivorous, the same as people - meat and plants.

Well female guppies have been known to push one out and then later gobble it down as well.

So really the general rule of keeping different types of fishes together is to make sure that the fishes you put in are too big to fit into the mouth of the biggest fish. Of coz this is only true for fish types that are by nature suitable for "community living"...
