While looking around at different types of fish feed I wondered how fish taste there food. From a quick search it seem they have a very good sense of taste and there taste buds are not only on there tongues. Catfish can not only taste with there whiskers but there whole body. Explains why fish pellets have a strong smell even if you just grab a few you have to wash your hands. Also might be handy in getting the fish to eat something else. |

I would have though the opposite - if fish have a good sense of smell/taste you would only need a lightly smelling food to attract the fish. Im pretty sure trout and barra etc a strong on sight as well - striking food well before the could smell it? I do agree with the trying something new aspect though - as long as the new food smelt good! |

Sight's not ment to be as good as there taste and hearing. If you have a strong odor on your hands when baiting a line it can determine who catches the fish. So some people really do stink at fishing. |
