Hi all

Just looking at (finally!) putting some fish in and have some more noob questions...

Can anyone recommend a store (preferably NOR or central) to pick up feeder fish/Bronze comets relatively cheaply?

And...any suggestions on how many would be needed for a 1000L tank with one growbed? We're looking at leaving them in there until late November when we introduce Barra, poor lil fishies :support:, so don't want to put too many in.

Appreciate any suggestions :)

You could try your local aquarium shop, generally most of them have feeder fish.

Thanks Joel. Have contacted a few locals and looking at $2-$2.50 each for the Bronze ones for a 25 minimum - thought I'd heard of FF going for $1 each? We might look at getting 10 odd trout instead if that's the case.

hey Ash, I cycled my system 1000FT and 500Lt GB with 10 Feeder fish (tiny ones)from gosnells. Cost me 12 bucks and I have 7 huge fish left. They eat like crazy and have had them for one year now. Gosnells will even take them back and give you credit if you dont want to keep them. I have them in with 40 silver perch

There is a pet shop in Ellenbrook and 6 months ago he said he could do feeder goldfish for around $1 if 100 were bought.

Thanks guys :thumbright: I rang quite a few stores and they either didn’t have much stock or were charging $2.50 each or $2 each for 25+. I did contact Jason from Pets Online and he was really helpful – would have been $1.50 each if they were in stock. Ended up picking up 25 bronze and white feeders from City Farmers at Malaga for $1.70 each. Mission accomplished :)
