| Post subject: | Fish Feeders |
I'm looking to feed manually in the morning (like I already do) and add to that with an auto-feed at dusk. This would mean I still inspect the tank daily, but have the backup option if for some reason I don't get to feed in the morning. Anyone know a good, reliable auto-feeder to buy for 2mm - 4mm pellets? |

i would speek to some one at fremantle tafe, maybe Tony would know something about them, when i was studying there my lecturer Giles had been working with some one to develop auto feeders and they were being used around the tafe. |

At the moment I'm feeding about 2 tablspoons per day, due to lack of fish. Ultimately, it will need to suply enough food for a half days supply for 20 silvers. Naturally I'd like to spent as little as needed

Most pet feeders can be problematic but they can work. I got a couple of ergo automatic pet feeders. They work quite well as far as pet feeders go but they are by no means sealed and bugs and moisture can get to the food. Also one must protect them from critters since fish food is a big attractant to things like rats and raccoons. It's not a commercial system, but I made my own. It's tied to the main controller and feeds the fish a couple of times a day. It also monitors the water temperature and will reduce the amount of food they get the colder the water gets.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU9x_W9X-tM The feeder is shown at around 1:00. |

As per OBO's post on another thread recently, I purchased on one of these... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-Automatic-Koi-Fish-Pond-Feeder-with-Stand-Carp_W0QQitemZ370223498868QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item56330a4674 It arrived today... if it is truly reliable for outdoor use, this feeder would feed the 20 barra I have for approx. 2 weeks without top-up... maybe more... I will be putting it into service this week... hope it works well, then rushing home to feed the fishes will be a thing of the past.... |

I've seen the Koi chef here in the USA and it seemed to be one of the better recommended ones. The big ones I got are not really meant for outdoor use so I have had to cover them to protect from weather but they are big enough for me to fill them up and be able to leave town for a week in summer (read fish eating lots and lots that time of year) and just have the neighbor check on things without worrying about feeding. |

Where do you get the Koi Chef from? OS? Ebay? There's one on Ebay who isn't shipping to Australia. I can't work out how you actually add one to the cart on aquaticeco.... and there doesn't seem to be a supplier in Aus. |
