Looks like fish supplies for summer are abit sketchy. Looks like i may just be growing out some koi and tryin to make abit of money selling them back when it gets cold enough for trout again.
Coz i don't think that i will have a long enough growout time for barra, not unless i provide some supplementary heating, and then that'll cut down my trout grow out time :(

How do you grow out koi and sell them back?? Do shop owners pay for you to grow out their koi??

Kind of. Most fish shops will do this with most fish.
Basically you buy the fish, grow them out and sell them back to a fish shop, not necessarily the same one tho.
So say you buy a 5cm koi for $5, you grow that out to say 10-15cm and they may pay you $20. Now these prices are just an example, but you get the idea.
The fish shop wins coz they don't have to grow them out and they will on sell them for a higher price, say $35 for that size.
It works for aquarium fish too. Fish that you don't want anymore, you take to the local fish shop and usually get something for them. Usually not as much as you paid for them tho, but something is better than nothing :)

Sounds great, since in AP, we are likely to feed fishes high protein/fat food as the feed is cheaper, hence the fishes grow bigger as well. Might be able to fund the next season's trout doing this as well.

I should check with the local aquarium shop...

I think there are a few ppl that are doing this. a good way to go if you don't wanna eat the fish :)
Your local aquarium shop will do it if they sell koi. Most aquarium shops run on about 50% the selling price at that size for cash or 75% for store credit.
But thats just what i have found with my tropical fish.
