Rup, Now have cleaned FTs, washed gravel and starting the system up again, I was hoping to add some trout, about 100. Could you let me know price and when you anticipate dropping into Newcastle? I was about to post, asking about trout transport method for a 6 hour car trip, I was planning next week. Farm boxes with oxygen packed with 20 max was recommended by the Trout farm. Would anyone agree this would get fish home safely as I've had enough deaths for a lifetime? After reading the recent dramas for 2-3 hr trips I thought I might need to look into it some more.Alternatively, OBO's method using barrels (200L ?) for 100 fish with air and ice might be necessary. General comments also greatly appreciated F |

Frank, just realised I didn't get back to you previously.... apologies... See you've done what I was going to suggest anyway... and are looking at trout... good move... Re: the foam boxes.... 6 hrs is a long time... and it would be easy to get caught out with a hot day... like today, for instance.... Will be up that way as soon as numbers are sorted... probably around end of month... Bree wants some trout... and she's around your neck of the woods... |

Youd need to have 25 fish in each esky, even then they'd have to be small ones. I was really impressed with how well mine travelled in the barrels. They took food immediately after going into the big tanks, and I didnt loose any at all. Even the ones that jumped back out again |

Think the temp in the pool is good now for trout. But how do you get them back out when it heats up. |

I used the shade cloth hat(lid) and by encouraging the trout to swim up and get the food, I could effectively harvest the size fish to suit the meal If ya get hungry you would find a way |

Hi John Count me in for fish and food. Would I be too ambitious to order 75? Tank has only been cycling for 4 days with 5 small gold fish in it. Vegies are in |

Rup Thanks for the info. Hope there aren' t further delays. Am I starting to sound slightly desparate? I'm justified or it's understandable since AP without fish is a bit tough. Best to you. F |

You'll get a more than sympathetic ear regarding voicing of desperation and frustration Franc... If I could have found an alternative source... I would have told him to shove it about a fortnight ago... |

On the positive side, with gunk topups from brother's system, I'm getting that earthy smell again. Water clarity needs improvement, but passable. F |

Well it's finally going to happen... 1000 trout fingerlings (100mm +) will be delivered Friday lunchtime. They'll have travelled 6 hours to get here, so I intend to settle them into the 6000L tank for a day and a half... Then I'll begin the road trip, first cab off the rank will be those on the way through to... and including... the Newcastle folk... approx 5-600... then the local orders, up the pass through Bowral and back through the Sydney orders (about another 200)... probably Monday... Will email everyone tonight... |
