| Post subject: | Simple Question Jade Perch |
I am just setting up and I know its a simple question but I cant find an answer in search and looking at others setups is just confusing me. I have a 450lt Ft I want to put in Jade Perch. Matt at SEQ says a $1 each however many you want to buy. Perfect. My Ft has a removable lid. Now I know that fish in a normal fish tank need light but some of the ones on the members systems have the Ft completely covered (No Light). Why? Also will big Jade Perch eat little Jade Perch? D. |

Fish are often found in natural systems under shade, amongst tree roots, dirty water etc... IMO... they prefer to have some cover... Most people actually shade their tanks to prevent algael growth, rather than to provide cover for the fish.... Will big fish eat small fish.... is the Pope a catholic.... |

Shade can help to prevent algae green water also. Keep the fish well fed, and they will not be as aggressive. |

I've had 50mm jades in with 350mm jades and they all get along fine. Just make sure the littlies get little food and the biggies get big food. |

fish do very well in low light makes them feel safer sometimes and less stressed, but then again it depends on what they are used to. Regardless i think its good to give them the natural day night rhythm though. |

Thanks Guys, I see that its like many things, there are no hard and fast rules. So as with many things for me, I will hedge my bets. I will put the lid on with a hole, covered in mesh, there. As to big fish eating littlies it makes sense to add new fish as you harvest the older ones to keep a regular supply and a balance in your system. So I'll try this. Thanks Again |
