Hello all, I am going to try to maintain my system temperature at a set temp... to do this i need a substantial heater element.. 1000L of water keeping it just above 20'C... any help as to where i can get a good one?? checked ebay and searched online but the ones i tend to find do not list a water volume...

steve, water volume is not a good measure of what heater you'd require.

normally i'm up to the maths, but not tonight. maybe if KP sees this thread he can work it out ;)

I'm not one to say dont bother, what i will say is this, people including me have tried using heaters to maintain a certain temp and pretty much all of us have given the idea away as un-economical.

what temp were you shooting for and what abient temp be?

you're coming into summer now, so dont worry about it, re-visit the topic before next winter if you're still keen :)

Hi Mate ..

Maybe put some insulation around your tank to start with .. or bury it.

Then I guess go slow.. modify and add as you go.

My ponds are tiny little tanks from Bunnings... so I have big temp variation..

In Summer in Perth on hot days the prob for small ponds will be keeping them cool enough so that the fish get enough dissolved oxygen. In winter I just add more heaters!

Hope this helps

Johnnie
