I have an already established pond and GB, and i want to farm some yabbies in a seperate tank to my ornimentals. my concern is that the eggs from the yabbies might make it through my GB's an into my other pond. i know they are hard to get rid of and i don't want to end up with yabbies nipping at my fancy fish. is this possible? do i need to duplicate my setups? |

Will you be pumping from the pond that you will have your yabbies in Timmy?? |

yes. i'll use a ball valve to make sure the correct amount of water flows back into each pond. I'd like to avoid having to make 2 duplicate setup's if possible. |

don't yabby females carry their eggs under their tail? as protection? |

Yep, until they hatch to fry... was why I asked if Timmy was going to pump from the tank they were in.... much more likely the fry would be sucked into the pump IMHO.... Secondly yabbies and marron generally prefer still, low flow water..... presumably if you're pumping out Timmy you'd be returning water back to the tank at some stage.... The inflow of water might dislodge the eggs.... would probably disturb the yabbies anyway... May be don't pump from that tank directly... maybe join to another tank, som that it's tidal... |

actually when i think about it, it's far more likely the small yabbies would end up as a snack for my koi. |
