Is it feasible to stock my IBC system with SP year round and add Trout in same tank ~March - December? If the SP slow down their feeding over the colder Melbourne months, I assume the available bio media will not be fully used, which could be taken up by some trout. |

As SP are no carnivores that should be ok. As long as you don't overstock your system I guess. |

I guess my question could be more specific, is there any info on how much less waste a fish like SP will produce in colder water (if any)? In order to not overstock the FT I'd like to account for the potential waste produced while the trout are active and the SP are not. |

Can't give you stats. And my answer is highly unscientific, because it's based on my experience alone. But my silver perch ate a lot less in winter than they did in summer. So you should be ok if you stock your trout lightly. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk |

Trout is a cold water fish and will eat and grow in cold water. Optimal water temperature 10-22 degrees. SP are more a warm water fish and will eat and grow in warmer water. Optimal water temperature 23-28 degrees. |

Thanks for the input everyone, I'll lightly stock SP now and load up on trout in late summer when it cools down a bit. |
