Hi,
Just wondering what the best fish for eating kitchen scraps is (i.e. garbage guts - eats anything).

From what I have read so far.
- Tilapia (can't get them in Australia)
- Silver Perch
- Goldfish

Is their any foods that should be avoided for all fish.

I am based in South-East Queensland (sub tropical) and don't plan on eating the fish.

Cheers,
Thomas

the best fish to eat your scraps would be insects.

damn....thanks for the advice guys, I was hoping to find the fish equivalent of the garbage disposal pig from the Flintstones. It's probably better to look into bugs and worms to feed the fish instead.

I recall seeing something on Nat Geo where a village in Japan would put the leftover scraps (thinking primarily vegetables) into a community waterworks system and the carp would eat and water went onto something else.....

Now I am on the hunt to find.......

Sometimes I worry about pesticides in the scraps for compost we use here in New Mexico. I don't really know how toxic the scraps are, but we do wash our vegetables before we eat them for the same reason.
Here is one discussion I found.

Eels are great at eating meat and fish scraps. Avoid fatty scraps, but sinew is fine.
I know eels aren't everyones cup of tea, but I think they're awesome.
