Since adding 105 silvers to my 1500 lt tank, I have noticed some interesting 'fish dynamics'.
I previously cycled the system for 2 months with around 30, 100mm goldies and removed all but three (couldn't catch the buggars).
As soon as the SP's (@ around 40 mm long) were added, the 3 big goldies seemed to be intimidated and retreated to the 90 pvc pipe offcuts laying on the bottom. :|
Two months later, they are still scared and hide while the SP's rush the food, so I rarely see the goldies. I can only assume they eat the leftovers later on. :?
The good news is that the SP's are thriving (now average 50 mm) with no losses at all.
Stu & Daniel obviously breed healthy fish with attitude as well. 8)

glad to hear the fish are doing well guys.

Peterall, we bought this lot in, but they were bred in a very similar climate to ours, which I think is the most important factor in the fact that we are still feeding 4 times a day with water temps in the low to mid teens, and noticing good growth. We even pulled a bolter out the other day at 105mm and 13 grams  poor sucker doesn't know how short his life will be if he keeps that up lol

My goldies dont have a problem with the Silver Perch infidels, but the silvers are starting to get bigger than them, so the dynamics might change :D

I should also have added, we had 5 big goldies in with the silvers when we put them in to the AP. The goldies are now recovering from the experience in my tank insided after the silvers used them as punching bags.
