Seeing as no one else is going to take the initiative I'll start the thread. Unfortunately my trout are still in the tank.... It's warming up next week so their days are numbered. Until then, anyone got 2016 trout to brag about???  Remember no pictures and it didn't happen.

These Brook trout are going into their second Winter. Not to brag, hehe but, the last one I weighed was about 1.5# 680 grams. They seem to have topped out at 18 inches 548 centimeters long and are only getting fatter

Gday zimbo My trout were put in the system as fingerling on the 30/04/2016 & harvested on 14/11/2016, so approximately 5.5 months to grow out to over 500g. http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum/download/file.php?id=79919

Hot smoked with apple wood, this was a trial so I used the smallest trout. Sensational....

Looks yum Aqua, nice work. Whatcha think of the bones? Not much bragging going on considering Troutman sold out this year! I had a belly up yesterday so cull day it is.  Hopefully they don't cook between tank and freezer.......I got a vacuum sealer for Xmas. Rock n roll.Stay tuned.

We've still got ten or so monster size Brook Trout in the water as we've got a huge project going on with our house. As soon as possible I want to learn how tho breed them for the next batch of fingerlings, maybe A few are near the top the others are five feet (1.5 meters) down near the bottom. I'd like to add that I believe a big part of trout appreciation is live fish. After all keeping fish is why I got into this AP stuff. |

I just wooped mine out one at a time after they hit 600g ish this year and ate most of them fresh. Pic is from earlier in the year. The last few hit the freezer when the tank hit 27C. I much prefer them fresh, but the vac bags do a good job on those in the freezer skeggely I am sure you will love it. It is pretty good with the veg too.
