i'm considering buying a 325 liter fish tank, for aquaponics.
and i was wondering what kind of fish would be optimal to house in it.
it will be indoor so temperature is unlikely to drop below 17 degrees celsius, or go above 21. (unless its a very hot summer day)

i prefer not to heat my system.
edible fish are a plus but not a neccessity
if it's possible to grow my own fishfood for this kind of fish that'd be great too.

and how much fish do i need for how much garden

like i said it's going to be indoors, i don't have a garden or balcony at the moment. (at the monent meaning the next couple of years.)

it wont be tilapia for the simple reason that i can't easily get them here (in the netherlands)
and i'd like getting my hands on claresse or omegaperch but these are closely guarded against hobbyists. (both are dutch and belgian crossbreeds which supposedly grow like crazy but unfortunately are infertile)

KOI...
..
AND get.intonation.Koi.group.and.ask for.CULL . which is the unwanted less-colourful left overs from breeding..

koi (alongside goldfish) are the fish types i dislike the most. i can't say why but thats how i feel about them.

i think i might be getting pumkinseed fish, these are easily available and seem to breed fast in ponds.
i'm not sure if they will breed inside my aquarium though.

bullhead catfish might be possible too, but they are harder to get. (not impossible though)

also the aquarium should be delivered next weekend, so i can get started building my aquaponics system

are pumpkinseed fish good for eating though.

it doesn't seem to be hard to raise daphnia to feed them, maybe a guppy tank on the side for food.

do the worms in the growbed multiply fast? if so they'll be food occasionally too.

how jumpy are pumpkinseed fish, are they likely to jump out of the aquarium.

also would a main diet of daphnia (water fleas) and mealworms be suitable. (i'd give other bugs and small fish occasionally)
