:?
Plenty of cane toads, rabbits, foxes and European rats you can have if you want them too.
The world really is getting stranger every day.

Always wondered whether cane toads could be a large protein additive to fish food?
If it could work I would imagine a number of grants being given on the environmentally friendly basis. :)

Sorry for being impolite in that post.
It might be a good idea to check with the authorities over here before taking anybody's money though.

In my state it is an offence to merely posses a feral carp as they are a declared pest species which has had a massive negative effect on the ecosystems where it is now found.
I'm pretty certain that transporting them alive would also be an offence pretty much anywhere in the country.

Mind you, if people in the UK want to pay to remove carp then I'm all for it.
Now I'm thinking we should sell them some.

In South Australia, we have a river called the Murray River, it had carp introduced at some stage after 1960.

They took it over, and since they are bottom feeders, they stirred up the bottom of all the river, and turned a clear river into a murky mess. They've also pushed out many of the native fish who can't compete with the introduced carp. They are a pest, not good for eating, and destroy the natural ecosystem.

I think the days are gone where people will introduce cane toads to kill off the cane toads (didn't work). They'll test the virus as much as humanly possible before releasing it.

It's easy to say it's evil to release a virus to take out a certain breed of fish when you haven't seen the consequences of what they've done.

They don't taste nice either, way too muddy and boney, but it could just be from living in muddy water. I went fishing there, and all we could catch was carp, which all get knocked on the head and left on shore.

It's also illegal, at least in my state, to transport the fish.

I am currently visiting Adelaide and caught a carp in the Murray out the front of the Goolwa aquatic club. Ate it for dinner , it was yum. No muddy taste and had a delicate white flesh. I would certainly eat it again. If aussies would only rate this fish higher it would help get rid of this pest from the rivers.

Exactomondoo !

BOOM in Aussie Aquaponic industry as Carp move into peoples converted swimming pools and super ponds for aquaponic systems growing organic food which is given to Aussies to keep em off the Fosters and Barbies.
