Post subject:  Fingerlings in Top part of IBC system

Hi

I put together an IBC aquaponics system.

However I never put enough grow media in the top part of my IBC system which made some of the clay balls flowt. I have been using the system to grow sweet potato slips and they are loving it.

Today I went to check on them and I thought I saw something move in the water. I noticed I had some tilapia fingerlings in my grow bed. I started off my system with full grown Tilapia.
I was wondering what should I do with the fingerlings. Should try to move them into there own system (if yes how would I move them) and let them grow or should I leave them until they become a little bigger?

Thanks

..
Fingerlings. Or FRY.

the first thing would be to know why there is too much water in the GB..
the assumption would be that less water would have seen them dead on the media..
As mouth brooders, you would not have seen anything with the fish until they were released..

You would need to better describe the plumbing etc, in order to get detailed thoughts..

They clearly can't stay in the GB, so you either shove them back in the FT, or start a second FT for the young ones ..
