My DWC beds have been a little lack luster lately, and I wasn't quite sure why. I think I figured it out.

I was doing a little maintance in there yesterday (a few bits of foam lifted out), and I spot this sudden burst of gold swimming around in the bed. It was about 4cm long, then another silver coloured fish zipped around.

So these eggs made it from the first tank, through the semi filter in the middle, through the pump, through the 2.4m of media beds, into the DWC beds. And there they have thrived eating I'm guessing random bugs and plant roots.

I have no idea how many are in there, but I'm seriously impressed they've made it that far. I mean, seriously, they got through tank-filter-pump-gravel bed, and then into the DWC bed, and have grown very fast, and big on no food from me.

Probably safer than living in with the baby eating bigger fish.
