I had a switch trip out on me last night and now 18 months and 40 perch are down the drain.

In addition to the battery backed air pump i'm going to buy, is there going to be a bulk run from troutman any time soon to byap?

you could amend your profile to show where you are.. I assume Perth.. :dontknow:

others have made the observation that there are other ways.. emergency procedures

eg.. a pond pump, like from ALDI (sometimes) where they have a fine fountain spray, into the air
and then a simple power inverter from JayCar etc. 12V to 240V and a charged battery...
even a fine jet from the hose could stir enough..

Naturally - that inverter will run the Air Pump anyway

that all assumes that you KNOW there is a problem.. this could be covered by using a pressure switch connected to the air line and when the pressure fails, a shrill buzzer sounds.. all washing machines and dishwashers have pressure switches

12V battery, Solar Panel and charger, and you have a start.. start looking on Gumtree etc.
..
.

Yeah, I'd say a buzzer going off will piss off my neighbours no end. I'll just run an air pump off a 12v battery and trickle charge the battery

How many do you need Timmy? On the assumption that Troutman is still out of stock for now (website says Fry only available Feb 2015) I am going up to Gidgegannup in the next few weeks to collect some fingerlings and a few bigger SP from Carey Nagle. I'm happy to collect for you too if you wanted to order some as well?

Depending on how many you want, I may have some extras - They were fingerlings last april, so are around the 150mm mark (I guess) not measured now.

I'm happy to wait for Troutmans fish as I'm more than satisfied with all I have purchased to date, strong, healthy and acclimatised fish.
But good call. :thumbright:

Troutman???

Things are on track here so as per the website I wont have any fry ready until the end of Feb. I have sold right out of fingerlings and the last of the yearlings will be going out next week. If the fish are for running your AP system you would be better off sourcing some fingerlings elsewhere as the fry are too small to provide you much in the way of nutrients.

I got mine from Woodvale Fish and Lilly farm, they are healthy and climatised very fast. They were feeding within 2 hours of being in the tank.

They don't have anything smaller than the 10-15cm and they are $5 each (min buy 10)

Seem good enough, though next time I'll be going through TM after hearing good reports from people, and the price is a bit less, AND it gives me a reason to visit the beautiful Fergo Valley region :shifty:

I need 50 silver perch fingerlings, but it's been so long since I bought any that I don't know if there are many around at this time of year. Are there?

I live pretty close to Gidgegannup, so may try Carey Nagle IF I can find the time to drive up there. Does anyone know of any delivery options any time soon?

Hiya Dazed, sps are around but a bulk buy could cost you. TM is delivering rts in May and Spring rings a bell for sps.
Perhaps just a few larger sps until spring or run some rts.

Thanks for the info, Skeggley. I have eight mature SPs in the sump so not urgent. I'd rather avoid trout as I don't want to rush to get them out come summer.
