Post subject:  Catching Baby Yabbies

Hi All

I could do with a few Ideas
I have a hundred odd baby yabbies in an aquarium with 70 mm of shell grit on the floor
They are doing pretty well in this environment Mum dropped them on the 4th Dec and they have
about doubled in size since with few losses.
Would like to put the next brood into the same aquarium. Mum has just spent the day on her back
passing eggs through a sperm sac so I guess I will have another brood in a few weeks.
I would like to clean out the aquarium and get a better algae and plankton bed going but how
do I catch the little buggers.
Cant use a net cause they just disappear into the Shells
Cant use a syphon for the same reason
I'm going to try to make a trap out of fly wire and see if I can catch enough to take the losses
when I clean out but would appreciate a shout if anyone else has brilliant ideas.

Trust all had a great Christmas and wishing all the best for the new year :bigsmurf:
and pox upon the mongrel who stole my wallet out of my truck and made me cancel my cards :upset:

Photos aren't all that flash the phone focuses on the water surface

You could try putting in some scrunched up shade cloth. They should take cover in it then just pull it out remove them and repeat the process.
