So I am hoping to get into aquaponics, but I'm not sure what is viable for my location and "tank". So I live in north Georgia (mild winters, hardly ever snows) and I'm not sure where to go to get live fish or whether anyone fishes them right out of the water to move to their own backyard?? Super newbie and confused... Anyway, my " tank" is a free 10x10 hot tub. ***** Could I breed and harvest any small fish worth eating taste wise in this small of a "tank"?*** I read on these forums so far that apparently shad is gross. Any advice would be appreciated as I have mostly just eaten fish that were served or prepackaged my whole life. |

look for pond stockers in your area, and what folks are raising in local ponds.. you could probably do bluegill, yellow perch, catfish or hybrid striped bass |

shad is used as a forage fish in lots of ponds.. not a "great" fish to eat, but not bad.. lots of bones (there are several species of shad used in ponds in the us) |

look at the Game and Fish site, I did recently. I guess it is federal, I don't anyway... they suggest as long as we have a fishing licence and it isn't a catch and release water, we can remove fish and put them in our ponds. Brian |
