Hi everyone, I'm building my own aquaponics system for my year 12 research project and I was wondering since I've only researched aquaponics if you could give me some advice. Whatever information you give will be used in my research project, which will not be published. If you want to remain anonymous say so in your reply. I was wondering when I build my aquaponics system, what are some design aspects I should really consider before making the system? (eg. grow-beds, fish tanks, where to place my system?, etc) |

Hi again Nicole, Sunlight is key for plant growth. 20 to 25 litres of rocks per 1 fish is the equation. So if you have a growbed (say 1mx1m IBC tank) that was 300mm deep then that is 300/25 = approx 12 fish I like the CHIFT PIST version where it overflows form the fish tank (no pump pumping the fish tank dry if you have leaks) ![]() In this design below at my school we didn't want to dig (had concrete slab beneath) So I used half IBC sumps connected. |
