Hey everyone

I picked up two young koi last week to add to my 275 Gallon FT IBC tote setup (supporting two IBC GB's) and they are still hardly eating. One of them actually died this morning and looked pretty emaciated (was floating when i woke up). Anyway, I have about 50-70 guppies/mosquito fish in the tank and they go nuts at feeding, usually eating flakes and most of the koi pellets i throw in there. The remaining koi just swims frantically around the middle of the tank in circles, every so often rising to the top looking for a bite and not finding any. I usually put more pellets in there and close the lid hoping he'll find them but they end up drifting around the tank if the guppies down't finding them and usually stay there.

So I'm a little worried this guy might die too. Any advice?

Current tests on the tank:
pH: 8.2
Nitrites: 0ppm
Am: 0ppm
Nitrate: 5ppm

The fish:

Have you ever tried to make a floating separation tank with netting? You can just put some bottles or PVC (The gray ones float) together with some net and make an isolation tank for the little guy. Then his feed will be his and the others will stay out.

Great idea...I'm going to pick up some screen from the hardware store today and use the bottles as you said. I'm wondering how the tilapia will behave when i get them with the guppies...
