Hi i'm just gearing up to start a small test system, does anyone know of the cheapest place to get small silver perch fingerlings in the perth area? perth gets quite cold in the winter (5c at times) will perch be optimal? |

There is a handy function on this forum (and most others). Up the top of the page is a handy button called "Search". This topic has come up a lot of times before. Even have a look under the fish section of the forum. I truly believe that a good read through the members systems will really pay off. PS. On your other recent thread, people have suggested not to put SP in a 60L tank, unless they are very small and will have somewhere to go within a few months. There are a lot of cheaper and easier obtainable fish to start off with. Consider white clouds, comets, yabbies or tilapia (which you can get for free). |

I asked Tony from Golden Ponds today about available fish from their hatchery. Basically, the price is around $2.50 each for SP, Bream or Barra fingerlings. I hope this helps, Tony |

Thats on idea, Black Bream are very slow growers, so a few small bream wold be alright in that sized tank. Be aware that Bream like clean and disease free water. So maybe not a starting off fish.... I don't want to here about any sacrificial bream, or you'll hear from me... Sorry for sounding like an A--hole in my last post here, it was late, and I just finished a few other threads on SP genocide. |

white clouds???? Comets ... For free??? Lemme know! I could use a load of coldwater fishies for school! (No budget for heated AP at all ZERO dollars! - I have a load of fry waiting for a tilapia spit and no heater!) I had to borrow a nylon mesh bag from a primary school kid to use as a fry saver! Doh! Anyone with old pumps. air pumps, or heaters or anything lying around in the shed ... I can use them. at school .. big or small . DoH!'' |

Sorry for the grammerical misconception J7... I meant that Tilapia can be obtained for free if you know the right people..... Apparently they grow fast and breed like rabbits... mine don't but hey. |

Hee Hee... I just had another female mossambique do a mouth spit! I gotta rescue... OK .. sorry for diverting the thread... doh! Golden ponds are good for coldwater tradittional fish, also barra if you want to heat the pond... for me Tilapia tastes better than Barra... |
