Post subject:  Barramundi not eating

Hi guys,

Off an running with 25 yearling barra for the summer in a 1000L tank. All readings of the system are fine but water temp is hovering around 22 degrees. The problem I have is the fish are not eating, or showing any interest at all! I have tried leaving them without food for a week but still no interest. Any suggestions on how I might encourage them?

Any suggestions for how to keep the water temp up? I have seen a video showing body boards floating on surface to reduce heat loss at night..perhaps stop system running at night to limit heat loss from growled? I presume plants will be ok with aerator kept on for fish.

The tank is unfortunately shaded under the growbed and I now wish I had left it in the open for sacrificed the garden space!

Any comments much appreciated.

Thanks guys

isn't it weird wanting to keep the tank warm in a Perth summer!

Barramundi are boring fishes to keep, so don't expect the same energy you get from trouts during feeding time. Also don't spook them before you want to feed them (ie. stick your head to the tank to check them out). Just drop the feed in from the side with no sudden movement. The less they see of you the better.
