They were voracious feeders!
no mozie larva whatsoever...
tiny fish with a big appetite.. great for azolla and duckweed tanks ...
I will get some more in bigger tanks / ponds when it gets a little warmer over here ...
I think my little tank was too small .. and that they basically starved, cos once they cleaned up all that moved ... than there was nothing left and they wouldn't take goldfish flake.
I think they needed food that wriggled!
Once the mozzie larva and other wiggly food was dispensed with .. they didn't know how to eat goldfish food!''

I will set up my kids sand pit / wading pool - blue shell shaped things that has been in the shed for three years .... fill them with water ... azolla in one ... duckweed in the other ... 4 pigmy perch in each and an airline ...
See what happens in the warmer months ...
I can't allow mozzies at all cos of the risk of Ross River virus and Barmah Forrest virus.. cos it really is a bugger of a disease ... (So very sad to see kids affected!)
We have roos real close .. and they are a intermediate host reservior / vector for the virus .. so it is very very important that mozzie larva are dealt with!
