Hi,
I just finished my koi pond in my backyard, which is 4000 x 4000 x 1500 (average deep), holds about 8m3 water.

I have nine koi, max is 400mm. It has plenty space.

Any suggestions if I can grow some fish with kois for eating. I read about trout. I am in Sydney lower north shore. So I guess that the temperature is ok in winter.

No idea where I can buy fingerlings and cost, how many I could have, how long they will live? etc. So many questions , any one can help

if you want the koi to live i would not mix fish that you plan to eat with them..

If you need to treat the fish you will make the fish inedible..

Hi easfarm, with a pond that size catching the fish once you have grown them out will be a real challenge. To the point where you might have to nearly drain the pond to get to them successfully. Also if you miss some they will die in summer and you will find them floating in the pond.

I've seen Charlie keep trout with other fish but only when they are in the minority. If you put a big group of trout into the pond they will probably go after the smaller koi.

Also what SnowT says it true - if you need to treat the koi chemically for disease or other health issues then those chemicals will be in the trout when you eat them.

Hope I am not being too negative cause your pond sounds fantastic. Feel free to post some pics for us to see.
