Rup,

take a look at the Aust museum paper which I have hopefully linked below. It is a review of all the Euastacus spp in NSW, with distrubation maps and keys. Without knowning more location details, belive it to be either E. australensis or E.spinifer.

Yep... I'd basically narrowed it down to those two.... but couldn't decide...

I've flicked the pics to a couple of the gurus of Australian crayfish...

Indeed Charlie... looks very similar.... but way outside their known distribution area...

Agree it is unusual but hey, Ive found Marron in Kalgoorlie and they are definitely not supposed to be here. I actually worked out last week that the species I have found here is actually the hairy marron variety... which are almost extinct. Strange world.

How does an almost extinct animal taste?

Maybe you should try and breed them to increase the population?
