Has anybody seen there fish mateing ?
I have a koi who for the last 2 weeks has been sitting on the bottom of the pond doing nothing
today I was watching it and the 3 largest fish were pushing each outher to get beside it and sucking along its flanks
when it does swim they rush to swim beside it and they all move a lot quicker :dontknow:
I will try to film it tomorrow

:bigsmurf:

When Koi mate they are egg scatterers.
They like to lay eggs on plant stems.
The mop like the one in the video gives them heaps of surfaces to lay their eggs on and then can be removed to a separate tank for fry raising

Also, Koi breed by the males pushing the females into each other out tank walls to force the eggs out of her.

It's all very romantic :)

You can trigger koi to start breeding by adding ice to the water.

I found some gold fish fry in my sump tank as well, it's that time of year and means you have happy fish in a good environment.

be sure to check for eggs and remove them if you want the fry as koi and most or all carp will eat there own eggs.

There is a good chance there will be eggs everywhere when they do spawn, should be hard to miss. But you will want more than one mop, they lay alot of eggs.
And the more options, the more likely they will spawn
