I've got a great fishing spot for Tandanus Catfish, eventhough I love aquaponics but most of the time I prefer beef:) I've got a heap of Jade perch which I'll soon have to eat I suppose... Anyhow I'm thinking next time I'll just go catch some 30+ cm cats and was wondering if anyone has had success getting them to eat pellets? |

Sweet thanks Charlie yea I went to a spot the other week was expecting to kill some Tilapia and couldn't catch one but hooked up on catties every 5 minutes which where all about 30-40cm all released, I love the flesh on the tandanus but admittedly 90% I would probably release. They are actually one of my personal favourites to eat which doesn't really mean much really because I've always felt guilty about keeping them because a lot of the local rivers have been overun with salmontail cats but if you look hard enough there are catchments which the salmontails can't get into where the tandanus are breeding like crazy, |

Mine graze the surface pellets no problems. I never throw sinking pellets in their tank |

Are you allowed to catch and keep them up there. They are native to the Murray Darling system and our river here at Horsham in Vic is the only place in that system that you are allowed to keep them. |

Yea your allowed up to 5 per person in qld 35cm is the minimum which I'm sure I could catch 20 in an hour over that size the only problem is I need to bring the family to make it legal |

Oh yeah, river caught fish may not take floating pellets. Mine were bought as fingerlings |

wildfire, you may have trouble getting them to take pellets, but it may be worth a go. i'm on the list with ausyfish to get some when they become available, so if you want some fingerlings, we may be able to combine orders. |

Thanks Orcy I'll give them a go first to see how they respond and if they don't take to the pellets I'll let ya know |

If you have floating pellets, just crush them and they will sink. Wildfire I would be interested in catching some with you. |

Does anyone know what is the range of temperatures Tandanus can handle? I've tried google but no luck so far. I'm thinking about getting some to control the snails and stuff in my DWC tank but I'm worried they won't handle the winter. |

The have a wide temperature tolerance, ausyfish says anything the other fish can handle, they can too. I've got 150 of them pre-ordered for January! http://www.ausyfish.com/our-fish/21-catfish.html (not from ausyfish though) |
