| Post subject: | SP refuse to go for floating pellets |
Hi Guys, Ive had a tank of Silvers now for probably 2 months - For the life of me, i cant get them to touch floating pellets. Ive tried not feeding for a week and then giving floating - which i have to scoop out a couple of hours later as it hasnt been touched. Feeding sinking pellets and worms they attack like they're starving.. No idea the pellets im using are from http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TTanked-Gold-Fish-Food-Sinking-Pellet-1kg-1-5mm-Goldfish-Tropical-Native-/130764070394?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item1e72255dfa&_uhb=1#ht_1589wt_1148 Where else can i get pellets to try another brand? Thanks |

No expert here, but I had the same problem with floating pellets at the start. The fish were babies and as recommended on this site, I crushed them up and got my SP used to the pellets. Took a few weeks to go from dust to a full pellet. I think I went from crushing, to cutting them in half then full pellets. |

ok thanks for the advice, I'll try crushing up the pellets some more (they are 1.5mm now) First i'll starve them a week, and try again.. |

What are your water temps like? My SP go off pellets during the cooler months and I substitute with prawn, yabbie and worms. As soon as my FT temps are above 15 odd degrees its out with the pellets again. |

Lauke pellets are all sinking pellets. I am feeding the silvers in the ibc tank with lauke stuff and they love it. |

they smash sinking stuff no worries, just wont come to the surface at all.. They're also still fingerlings so they're pretty small 1.5mm food |

My tank has a lid on it and mine won't come to the surface to get the floating pellets untill I close the lid.. can you put some sort of cover over the tank? |
