I've been feeding our yabbys veg scraps and chook pellets. Should I get them some sinking fish pellets or something? Also have in the system some shrimps and baby yellow belly.

Yeah Rupert I am constantly counting, Everyone looks a little nervous for some reason.....
I'm waiting to get the big tank in the ground to take the yabbies out but until then the tomato seedlings are getting a hurry along by the high stocking density in the tank.
Any ideas what shrimp eat, I have only thought of them as there to be eaten before, but now their so cute swimming around, dodging yabbys claws, outsmarting baby fish... I;d like to keep a tank with some in and breed them. Will post a pic soon

Well, not sure of actual names, but they are large, translucent with long forearm type of thingos. Native to our inland rivers. Can't find them on the web

I feed my redclaw yabby bara pellets, veg scraps and as a treat, the odd chunk of butternut pumpkin (that is what I catch them on when I go fishing and it works a treat  )
They seem to prefer the veg over dead fish ...

I'll take some pics tomorrow.
I like the pumpkin idea AM. are the barra pellets floating or sinking?

Don't think their chereibin gnash, I've never taken much notice of them before except to put them on a hook to catch a yellow belly, but now I'm really thinking that perhaps I could have them in a seperate tank as a food source for the fish?

Current count 4 yellow belly, 8 shrimp and lots of yabbies
Tomorrow, who knows?

My yabby ate my fresh water prawns :(
the pellets are slow sinking.. and they are readily eaten up :)

About 8 inches since Christmas eve.
2 inches in the 2 years preceding that
We're probably now the greenest spot in the state
Makes a change
