hey guys ,
just a quick one on silver perch
i know most people harvest their silver perch when they are " plate size" but i am just wondering ;
how much ediable meat you get off one "plate sized" silver perch?

i know it will vary on how fat your fish are. i was just curious because alot of people have told me you only get a fillet from the belly :? . i thought i might ask some of you guys that have already harvested silvers , as i am still in my 1st season.

cheers big ears :D

Ive found them to have the same edible sized fillets you would expect from say a bream of the same size. Im not really sure what your friends are on about but I havnt noticed anything different.

I ate a 400g one last weekend and it was plenty for me.

My mates were just saying that you only get a little bit of meat at the belly of a perch .
They were talking about wild fish though not my fat ap fish:D

Cheers guys

This one wayed just over a kg and when cooked whole in the oven "thai style" it fed 2 adults and 2 teenage girls.
Only trouble is it took 3 years to get to that size and it was probably about 150mm when I got it.
Bullet proof fish though, and as delicious as barramundi in my opinion.
